Academic Outreach
Academic outreach is a vital aspect of the mission of OMA. Academic outreach provides OMA with the opportunity to address low academic performance, praise and recognize outstanding academic achievement, and provide guidance in study, retention, and matriculation. There are two programs available for ethnic minority students at Armstrong – EASE and MACAS.
EASE PROGRAM

Purpose:
The Early Alert Support Environment (EASE) is a mentoring program designed
to meet the needs of ethnic minority students by providing positive role models, visible campus leaders,
and enhancing their connections to the institutions faculty and facilities.

Program Highlights:
- Students are involved in a lunch lecture series in which many topics are discussed such as; college preparations, stress management, health care topics, etc.
- EASE students have the option of using the EASE forms to assist the mentors in their evaluation of the course work before mid-terms to determine what course of action they should follow in terms of next semester classes, drop/add, or course cancellation.
How to Participate:
MACAS PROGRAM

Purpose:
The Minority Academic Achievement Scholars (MACAS) program seeks to highlight the achievements of ethnic minority students. Studentswhot obtain a minimum 3.00 grade point average upon completion of 12 hours in a semester will be notified.

Program Highlights:
- Students' academic records will be collected at the end of each semester.
- There are three categories of accomplishment:
- Academic Honor – students with a grade point average of 3.0 – 3.49.
- Academic Achievement – students with a grade point average of 3.50 – 3.99.
- Academic Excellence – students with a grade point average of 4.00.
- Students and their families will receive letters informing them to RSVP for the MACAS Awards program given in their honor.
