Academic Outreach

Academic outreach is a vital aspect of the mission of OMA. Academic outreach provides OMA with the opportunity to address low academic performance, praise and recognize outstanding academic achievement, and provide guidance in study, retention, and matriculation. There are two programs available for ethnic minority students at Armstrong – EASE and MACAS.

The Early Alert Support Environment (EASE) is a mentoring program designed to meet the needs of ethnic minority students by providing positive role models, visible campus leaders, and enhancing their connections to the institutions faculty and facilities.

Program Highlights:
  • Students are involved in a lunch lecture series in which many topics are discussed such as; college preparations, stress management, health care topics, etc.
  • EASE students have the option of using the EASE forms to assist the mentors in their evaluation of the course work before mid-terms to determine what course of action they should follow in terms of next semester classes, drop/add, or course cancellation.
