Student Development

Student development is also a vital aspect of what OMA offers students. OMA supports student’s social interaction and intellectual growth. Working in conjunction with Student Activities, Campus Union Board, HOLA and various other student organizations OMA seeks to provide quality programming for all students.

NEW STUDENT MEET & GREET

Mission:

The reception allows students to informally meet and greet University Faculty/Staff and Administrators on the campus of Armstrong Atlantic State University.

Program Highlights:
  • Students are invited to a reception, which allows them to meet the various campus leaders, and several other faculty and staff.

AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH

Mission:

The African American History Month program displays all aspects of cultural enrichment of the African American culture.

Program Highlights:
  • Soul Food Luncheon
  • Poetry Slam
  • Quiz Bowl
  • African American Heritage Ball
  • Social Activities

SPADES TOURNAMENT

Mission:

The Spades tournament is a social program designed at increasing student interaction by providing an outlet for students to compete for trophies and prizes.

Program Highlights:
  • The tournament is open to all AASU students and alumni.
  • Teams will play for first, second, and third prizes.

DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. PARADE

NAACP FREEDOM FUND DINNER

Mission:

The NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner is an opportunity for students to convene with the Savannah community leaders in an elegant evening activity. The evening is highlighted by a dynamic address by a keynote speaker and a scrumptious dinner.

Program Highlights:
  • Student are selected from the EASE program and Student Government Association.
  • OMA sponsors the table so students are able to attend the function free of charge.

BIRTHDAY CLUB

Mission:

The birthday club is a monthly party sponsored to bring students together for some cake and ice cream.
